We are rolling up our sleeves to get some baking done. I'm just realizing that we already missed the first round of teachers as their program ends today. Maybe I can bring them some New Year muffins? Or 2012 resolutions' fudge? It won't be the first time. I've been known to convert Christmas cards into Valentine's Day ones because I was a little late sending them. We like to make cherry balls, hello dolly squares, brown sugar fudge and lots and lots of shortbreads. Shortbread are so popular because they are little blank canvases!!! We're going to try these this year: salt dough ornaments too for the same reason. What are the favourites in your home?
Since 2020, I have written the following: -grandiose grocery lists (written on an empty stomach) that often end up getlting left behind at home -funding proposals -delicately worded emails -harried Whatsapp messages -a slew of facebook messages (that basically kept me alive) -a tinder profile or two... -utilitarian text messages -heart felt text messages -the very occasional love note (on paper) to a friend or a loved one The things I have not written since 2020: -a journal -a multi-page handwritten letter -a play -a sketch -a novel -more than 2-3 blog posts that I didn't even publish -a pros and cons list
I made salt dough ornaments with my niece and nephew last week. They were a big hit!! I'm hoping to be given one or two to put on our tree, once we get one. We also tried to get a nice handprint of Alexander's into ornament form. But he poked holes in the dough trying to grab a hold of it!
ReplyDeleteI am always inspired at this time of year to make gifts. Last year I managed it, despite all the busy and crazy in my life. This year, I'm not so sure. I have lots of ideas, but no surface or time to create. I'm not even sure we'll get any real baking done either!
